“How do I get rid of my stubborn acne?”
At Winslow Skincare we have gathered our 5 Top Tips for getting rid of teen acne, all of which you can do at home for no cost! Enjoy!
Tip 1
When people tell you to dry out your acne they are wrong!
Drying out your acne will only stimulate your sebaceous glands to produce more sebum, causing your skin to become more oily. So although this may seem like a quick fix, long term it is ultimately only going to worsen your acne
Tip 2
Toners are important!
For many toners seem like a unneeded part of your skin regime however this could not be further from the truth, especially for acne and breakout prone skin. Toners act as a astringent, drawing excess oil out of the skin leaving you with a more matte appearance when you apply your moisturizer.
Tip 3
It’s possible to feel acneic, oily and dry at the same time!
More commonly known as combination skin this feeling that you are fighting more than one problem on your skin is common among teens. With acne and breakouts appearing mainly in the T Zone area and most experiencing dryness on the cheeks
Tip 4
Don’t share your make up and brushes with your friends!
Sharing isn’t always caring with skin! By sharing brushes and make up with your friends you are not only bring your skin in contact with foreign bacteria, you are allowing bacterial and viral pathogens a breading ground on your skin. The most common virus passed through make up is herpes simplex aka cold sore, often passed through sharing lip balms and glosses
Tip 5
When you hear that popping pimples makes them worse, believe it!
By picking and popping acne and breakouts you are spreading the bacteria over a wider area increasing the likelihood of further breakouts. Not only this, but you also increase your risk of scarring later on when you break the skin. And last but not least popping pimples DOES NOT make your spots go away! It will only increase the redness and inflammation to the area making your zit even more obvious to the outside world!
